Sometimes, you might come across a commenter who's just not vibing with you. That's okay – we've got your back with our blocking and muting features. This guide will help you navigate how to quickly and easily block, unblock, mute, and unmute users.
Insticator has introduced an enhanced commenting experience with our new commenting product COOL Comments, while some sites may still feature our classic Insticator Commenting. To ensure you're accessing the correct guide, please identify which version you're using:

Insticator Commenting
There are two ways to block a user on Insticator's Commenting Unit:
- Go to the user's profile and click on the "Block" button. Once you've blocked them, you and the other user won't be able to see each other's comments and replies, but don't worry, other commenters can still see them.
- Click on the three dots on the right side of the comment. Then, choose the "Block" option from the dropdown menu.
Now, if you've blocked someone and want to give them another chance, you can easily unblock them. Here's how:
- Go to your profile.
- Filter your recent activity: Scroll down to the "Recent Activity" section and select "Blocking" to see a list of all the users you've blocked.
- Once you find the user you want to unblock, click on their username to open their profile window.
- In their profile window, you'll see a "Block" button with a check mark. Just click it to unblock the user.
That's all there is to it! If you ever come across a user who's not playing nice, don't hesitate to block them. And if you change your mind later, unblocking them is a breeze.
Please note, the Mute feature is not supported in Insticator Commenting.
COOL Comments
In COOL Comments, you have control over your interactions with other users through our blocking and muting features. Here's how you can use these tools to manage your commenting experience:
To Block a User:
- Click on the user's profile and select the 'Block' button.
- Confirm the action by clicking 'Block' again.
Blocking a user prevents them from seeing your comments or replies, interacting with your profile, and following you.
To Unblock a User:
- Access your profile by clicking on your username and then the 'View My Profile' button.
- Navigate to the People section of the Community tab.
- Select the 'Blocked' filter and click on the 'Unblock' button next to the user you wish to unblock.
To Mute a User:
- Click on the user's profile and select the 'Mute' button.
- Confirm the action by clicking 'Mute' again.
Muting a user stops you from seeing their comments or receiving notifications about their activity, but they can still see your comments.
To Unmute a User:
- Access your profile by clicking on your username and then the 'View My Profile' button.
- Go to the People section of the Community tab.
- Select the 'Muted' filter and click on the 'Unmute' button next to the user you wish to unmute.
With these features, COOL Comments empowers you to tailor your social interactions, ensuring a positive and personalized commenting experience.
